I love to walk. I love to walk not only for the exercise, but I love to walk for the time it gives me to myself! It’s time when I can think – or not, it’s time when I can listen to some music – or not, but most importantly it’s time for ME!
I’m a wife and a working Mum to two teenagers and having even a minute to think about me seems to get squeezed in when everything else is done, everyone else is entertained and sometimes by that point – I am past it!
I’m an early bird too, so this morning I set my alarm 15 minutes earlier than I would normally do, I got up, washed my face, put on something comfortable to wear and went out for a walk – yes at 5.45 am! WOOOW! How naughty!
It felt really weird at first being up so early with every few other people. I walked up the hill at the side of my house and then got into the real groove … it was BRILLIANT! There were very few cars and other people around, so for a while I had the world, the birds and the church bells all to myself! I absolutely loved it, I feel so alive and so ready for whatever my day brings today.
Now back and enjoying my breakfast, I feel as if I’ve had a secret adventure already this morning.
Everyone else was and still is asleep so aren’t even aware that I was out of the house for 30 whole minutes this morning! 30 whole minutes to do what I wanted to do, I feel a sense of achievement just in that. I literally cannot wait to get up and go again tomorrow!
Here’s to mixing things up in your routine and being a little bit selfish and making that time for you!
